Is it possible to have a new routine of bodybuilding over 50? Why not? But you should know that such effort may take a while – longer than the regular ones – because your body has experienced some decline as you get older. However, it doesn’t mean that you can’t achieve a good result at all. The earlier you start, the better the result will be. Of course, if you just start when you hit 50, the progress may not be as fast as you want but still….it is worth to try.
As it was mentioned before, bodybuilding over 50 can really improve your health, appearance, and life expectancy – as well as shrinking the possibility of disease and disability. If you just start when you reach 50, your body will need to adjust itself to the new change – and it may take longer than it should have. However, if you start earlier, let’s say before 50, you can expect a better outcome and age is only a matter of numbers – not ability. If you have just started, here are some things to remember:
- Pay attention to the fundamental program. Keep in mind that the major goal is to keep your body functional. You don’t want to be injured on your first time exercising. That’s why you should start slowly on the strength training. Doing the exercise for 20 minutes to 45 minutes for three times a week should be enough. It would be best if you are accompanied by a professional trainer at this stage.
- You need to remember that you want to target the muscles and develop them. You shouldn’t focus too much on the sets numbers or the amount of the necessary weight, and such thing alike. Just focus on what you do and enjoy the process.
Set your goal. Do you want to strengthen yourself or build the muscles? If you are new to this, strengthening yourself is crucial. If you have been doing the exercise for a while, then you should start with the muscle building. But in an overall outcome, having bodybuilding over 50 isn’t impossible at all.
